New Nordic back-up scheme sparks uncertainty

The cost of balancing the Nordic power market has risen considerably since the region launched a joint automated market for frequency reserves on 4 March. The new mechanism aims to better align supply with demand in a power market increasingly dominated by weather dependent wind and solar generation but also poses huge risks for companies that fall out of balance.
