Germany’s new government to prioritise cheaper energy

After winning a general election on 23 February, Germany’s centre-right Christian Union (CDU/CSU) hopes to form a coalition government with the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) by early May. Bringing down energy costs will be one of their chief priorities. This is leading some to suggest curbing the pace of renewable energy and grid expansion.
