The Norwegian GO dilemma – Should it stay, or should it go?
When Norway’s current centre-left government took office in 2021, it declared that Norway should pull out of the market for Guarantees of Origins. Given that 80% of all GOs issued in Norway are consumed in Europe, mainly in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, such a decision would have serious implications and recent statements from the country’s energy minister do suggest there may have been a change of heart. Reporting by Gert Mollestad, Editor Norway, Montel. Contributor: Daniel Arnesson, Manager GO, Veyt.

It's a pretty big deal considering Norway ships out 80% of its GOs to Europe, especially to countries like Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
Basically, when the current government came in back in 2021, they talked about ditching the GO market. But, recent vibes from the energy minister hint they might be rethinking that. If Norway actually pulls out, it could shake things up for the European renewable energy scene. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on!
